Listening to…

Posted in music with tags , , on September 15, 2008 by declandebarra

I’m busy printing lino cuts to insert into the first 500 cds and listening to music as i get carpal tunnel syndrome. So here are a few vids of people i’m listening to…check ‘em out and support them as they are all great. I saw Lisa Hannigan play an instore last saturday and she and her band were just brilliant. I was smiling through most of it. Her new album is out now.

And here is Jape…go on Richie ya good thing.

And another local lady done good…Cathy Davey

Funky Fables

If any of you have kids and access to CBBC you can check out an animated TV series every Friday at 3.30 called Funky Fables. I wrote a bunch of episodes with my sister and an insane Spaniard called Borja (currently lost in some jungle in central America). I haven’t seen what it turned out like. But knowing the crew making it it is probably pretty cool.

I have just written 2 episodes of a new BBC series called Badly Drawn Roy which is shooting now and should screen next year. It’s a mockumentary  based on a 10yr old cartoon boy living in the real world set in Dublin. I saw a test of it last week and it looks fantastic.

Looks like the end of October for the release of “A fire to scare the sun”. Looking forward to touring it.

the collapse of response…I’m drowning…Please excuse me – A post on my myspace blog-

I am now at the stage where the amount of cool emails i need to reply to is up to my nostrils. I am at the point where i am ignoring work i should be focusing on with music. I want to make some more good work before i pop off the planet which could be in the next ten seconds, who knows? So for a start i am going to stop replying to comments. I know i am a bad web boy and need to be slapped but i really would prefer you to say, he is shit at replying but at least he is putting out lots of cool songs and art, than it’s really cool he replied so fast to the email about a song he wrote 5 years ago.
I truly appreciate and smile at every cool email i receive, somedays they keep me going and are manna from heaven for bruised artistic egos in the face of harsh economic reality. And so every time i get a night off i make a load of coffee and try to reply to everyone. The time between receiving and replying is growing as more people get a chance to check out the music. But i will try to respond to everyone, it just may take a while. So please don’t be upset or think i don’t appreciate your support when It takes months for a reply. The best way to interact with me is probably on my main blog Notes from the front line, it’s public and allows for people to interact with each other via comments etc.
