Jailed for HTML…the insanity of the Patriot act.
I played a show in Vancouver last week with Sherman Austin, a great musician and activist from LA who spent a year in Jail for hosting a website where someone else posted a link to an article that had an excerpt from “The anarchist’s cook book”. A first for the “Patriot act”. Sherman wasn’t even the author he was just the host. He was looking at 20 years if he didn’t plea. Most of the sentence was spent in solitary under death threats from the Aryan Brotherhood. He was also banned from accessing a computer for 3 years.
Jail for HTML. It’s fucking Orwellian.
We shared some food along with Dj Chela and Meegan the organiser of Under the volcano festival. All of us were open mouthed as he filled us in on the insane details.
It is quite the read. Link to full article.

That is fucking bullshit and another example of America’s slow (quick?) march towards a police state. We can thank Obama’s VP pick Joe Biden for the bill that allowed this to happen.
