someday soon remix

I just got a copy of the music for a remixed version of Someday soon from Olivier Coursier who is one half of French duo Aaron. While i was in France i asked him to take the music and write some beats and rework it for a french release. So far i am very impressed, great melody lines and beats and a brass line which i love.  I am really looking forward to putting down some vocals on it tomorrow and sending it back to Paris for him to mix. I think i sang it into his computer backstage somewhere in the french alps and he took it from there. I don’t know how it will be released yet but it will be in the next few months. 

It begins…

I have the studio set up in a vacant room with nice high ceilings and floorboards. I started work last week so far it is sounding good. I am trying to be as minimalist as possible and record the best sounds i can going in so i don’t have to resort to lots of mixing trickery to get a good sounding song.  As i listen back to the tracks i hear a million different ideas so it’s a constant battle to keep focused. I still want to keep this minimalist but then again rhythms keep appearing in my head that would lift certain songs so perhaps i will start to create what i hear. For anyone thinking of upgrading to Leopard for mac…forget it. It is the greatest pile of shite i have ever encountered. Today is the first day since i have been back that it is not raining and the sun is out so i am going to take a few hours off and walk in the sun.It’s about time this album started. I waited too long for all the pieces to fit before starting. The pieces never fit and the time is never right so just fucking start. As soon a i finish this one i am going to start work on the next and have it finished by this time next year.There i have said it. It’s out there.. 

random thoughts from a frozen soul…

• I am just back in Dublin from hanging out with my family in India. I am still in shock with the wet cold and wind that is the rock in the atlantic i inhabit. 
• I have given up coffee…i am onto silver tea.
• I was bought a sitar by my awesome family and have spent a week tuning it.
• I have learned lots of yoga in india to help with my singing and posture etc. I like it a lot.
• I am trawling through a million mails and will try to answer them all by sunset. 
• I am fooling myself.
• I am looking at buying a 3000 euro preamp to record the album.
• I don’t know where to find 3000 euro.
• I am excited about recording all these songs.
• I am going to start work recording the 3rd album as soon as i have finished this one.
• I didn’t get sick in India despite eating everything from everywhere.
• I am missing playing live already.
• I hope Obama wins.
• I know if i buy a nintendo ds lite my life will end. I have been game free for over ten years…one day at a time.
